Joint Base Andrews Air Show Taking Off This September

Andrews Federal is proud to serve as the Premier Sponsor for the Joint Base Andrews Air Show Sept. 13 and 14. Each Air Show is a celebration of military talent, dedication and innovation, as highly trained pilots showcase their aerial skills.

According to the Department of Defense, air demonstration events "provide an opportunity for people to see U.S. military air capabilities in action and meet the service members who fly and maintain the equipment." It is also an opportunity for the community to connect, watch military professionals in action, and to feel a renewed sense of pride in the hard work and dedication of our Armed Forces.

The Joint Base Andrews Air Show typically brings together tens of thousands of visitors. Here are a few reasons you'll want to come out and enjoy all the JBA Air Show has to offer:

1. Dazzling aerial demonstrations.

This year's Joint Base Andrews Air Show will include superb performances by military teams including:

• The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron "Thunderbirds": The Air Force's premier aerial demonstration team, which showcases the precision performance of the F-16 Falcon.
• The U.S. Army Parachute Team "Golden Knights": The U.S. Army's elite parachute team
• The U.S. Naval Academy Parachute Team: Precision parachute demonstrations by midshipmen from the U.S. Naval Academy
• The F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team: Demonstrations highlighting the stealth and maneuverability of the Air Force's fifth-generation stealth fighter
• The C-17 Demo Team: Demonstrations of the maneuverability and tactical versatility of the Air Force's heavy-lift cargo aircraft

Each of these teams of highly trained performers have honed their skills and are an awe-inspiring delight to watch. More performances will likely be added as the show approaches.

2. Participate in STEAM-focused activities.

The Air Show will also include a variety of learning experiences, both in the air and on the ground.

There will be a wide array of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) exhibits available for students - and learners of all ages! - to enjoy and to expand their knowledge during the event.

3. Enjoy an affordable day of family fun and entertainment.

The Air Show is an affordable option to enjoy a full day of family fun. There's no cost to attend, but you can purchase food or premium seating to make your day more comfortable.

Along with the flight demonstrations and the STEAM exhibits, sponsors will have booths with fun games and activities. For example, Andrews Federal provides special giveaways and opportunities to engage at the flight line tent.

The day is also filled with engaging activities like band performances, honor guard displays, musical entertainment and more.
