Understanding and Accessing Your FICO® Score

fico score

Your FICO Score is a snapshot of your credit and your ability to access loans, resources and more. There’s a lot riding on that three digit number, which is why Andrews Federal ensures it’s available to all members free of charge through their Digital Banking logins.

Below, you’ll learn more about your FICO Score, why it matters, and how you can easily access yours whenever you want to check in.

What Is a FICO Score?

A FICO Score is a three-digit number (ranging from 300 to 850) that reflects your creditworthiness and indicates how likely you are to repay borrowed money on time. Several factors go into determining your FICO Score, including:

Your payment record and how frequently you make on-time payments

Your total debt

The age of your accounts (the longer you’ve had credit cards open and paid on them responsibly, the better)

How recently you’ve applied for credit

Who Looks at my FICO Score?

Anyone who is assessing whether to make funds or resources available to you may have interest in reviewing your FICO score. That includes:

Lenders

Credit card companies

Landlords

Insurers

Some employers, depending on the field you work in

This video shows what goes into your FICO score and why it might matter to people considering your creditworthiness.

Why Does My Credit Report and FICO Score Matter?

Your credit report lists the factors we mentioned above: your available credit, your payment history, etc. Your FICO score combines the data from several credit bureaus to create a snapshot of your financial standing and likelihood to be able to repay a loan.

This video shows what goes into your credit report and why it matters.

Wondering how lenders use your credit score to evaluate your loan application? This video gives more detail about what happens and how your credit score plays a role in the process once your preferred lender receives your application.
