Keep Your Cards Safe This Holiday Season

Before you fill your shopping cart, look at your debit and credit card security preferences. Are you familiar with all of the options available to protect your personal information against fraud?

Here are some tips to help you keep your cards safe during the biggest shopping season of the year:

Add an Authorized User

Sharing is caring. If there is someone you would like to give spending access to, add that person as an authorized user for your Andrews Federal Visa® credit card. Authorized users will receive their own copy of your credit card with their name on it, and the purchases they make will reduce your available credit limit. You will be responsible for paying for all charges, whether you or your authorized user made the purchase.

To add an authorized user, log in to Digital Banking. You will need the authorized user's personal information, including their name, address, date of birth, and social security number, to process the request.

Set a Travel Notification

Jet set without the stress. There's nothing worse than getting to your destination only to find out that your card has been disabled because you're making purchases in a new location. Set a travel notification to enjoy seamless spending access and card usage while on vacation. Because using your own money shouldn't be difficult. Log in to Digital Banking to set a travel notification.

To set a travel notification, add the departure and return dates, and a traveling contact number in case we need to get in touch.

Enable/Disable Your Card(s)

Now is not the time to let your guard down. Take control of your card by temporarily turning it off or "disabling" the use of your card. You can prevent transactions from happening without reporting your card as lost or stolen. To disable your card, simply login to Digital Banking.

Stop fraud in its tracks with the tip of your finger.

Set Up Alerts

Do you know about the activity that's happening in your bank accounts? Save yourself some time and set up customized alerts that will automatically notify you when a transaction occurs.

Alerts let you know when your card is used, which can prevent someone from using your card without your permission.

A few other ways to safeguard your information:

  • Set your apps to update automatically so, you always have the most up-to-date security software.
  • When using P2P payment apps like Venmo or Zelle, make sure you know who you are sending money to before paying anyone.
  • Check your accounts daily to confirm you recognize all of the completed transactions.
  • Create unique, complex passwords for all of your secure accounts.

With a little effort, you can have a safe and enjoyable holiday season.
