10 awards of $500 each help students learn and explore this summer

Fund a summer of learning and exploration for your child with a summer camp award from Andrews Federal! Each year, we award students funds that help their families provide them with summer learning and adventure, from STEM camps to nature exploration.

The program will reopen in 2026. A total of 10 children between the ages of 6 and 16 will win a summer camp award of $500.

About the Summer Camp Awards Program

Each year, Andrews Federal Credit Union helps young learners make the most of their summer through our Summer Camp Awards Program. These awards are designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and personal growth by supporting participation in educational or skill-building camps.

Recipients are selected based on their interests, goals, and enthusiasm for learning. Each award provides $500 to help cover camp registration or related expenses, giving students the opportunity to discover new passions and expand their horizons.

Applications for the next program year will open in early 2026—check back for details and eligibility requirements.

Requirements

  • Your child must be enrolled in a summer camp or enrichment program for Summer 2025. 
  • Must provide a copy of the summer camp enrollment or payment confirmation.
  • Must provide a photo of your child. Preferably high-resolution in the format JPG or PNG.
  • Previous Summer Camp Award winners are not eligible to apply.
  • Limit one Summer Camp Award per household.

Eligibility

  • Your child must be a member of Andrews Federal Credit Union or have an immediate family member who is a member of Andrews Federal Credit Union.
  • The Summer Camp Awards Program is not open to employees and board members of Andrews Federal Credit Union or their families.

Categories

  • The Summer Camp Awards Program has two categories: a General Category and an Additional Needs Category.
  • The Additional Needs Category encourages participants (children or teenagers) with physical or intellectual disabilities to submit entries in free expression without the restriction of the competition’s official theme if they wish. 
  • The Additional Needs Category applicants will be judged separately based upon their entry, which may include drawings, essays, or a photographed or videoed demonstration of the applicant performing a life skill or a portrayal of what they expect to learn at camp.

Winners

  • Summer Camp Award winners will be notified in spring 2026.
  • If we cannot get in touch with you, your family’s rights to the award money will be forfeited.
  • Only winners will be contacted. Applicants will not be contacted after application submission.
  • Winners may be asked to accept their reward in-person at our Annual Meeting in June 2026 if you live within 25 miles of our headquarters location in Suitland, Maryland. Photographs will be taken of award winners and their families. Business attire requested. 

Submission Guidelines

  • Age 6 to 9
    • Drawing: Your child can create a drawing that focuses on what they want to do this summer. 
  • Age 10 to 13
    • Drawing: Your child can create a drawing highlighting their plans and goals this summer. The artwork should be completed by the child. 
    • Essay: Your child can submit an essay of 150 words or less, highlighting their plans and goals for the summer.
  • Age 14 to 16
    • Drawing: Your child can create a drawing highlighting their plans and goals this summer. The artwork should be completed by the child. 
    • Essay: Your child can submit an essay between 150 and 500 words, highlighting their plans and goals for the summer.

Choose the right category for your age group, then start planning and drawing or writing!

College Scholarships

In 2026, Andrews Federal will award five $5,000 scholarships to help rising high school seniors achieve their educational goals and work toward a bright future.

Membership

Becoming an Andrews Federal Credit Union member is now easier, and as quickly as 5 minutes.

The applicant must be a member, or a family member of an Andrews Federal member, either of which must be in good standing in spring 2026. The applicant must be enrolled in a summer camp or enrichment program for Summer 2026. 

If we cannot get in touch with you, your family’s rights to the award money will be forfeited. Only winners will be contacted. Applicants will not be contacted after application submission.

The Summer Camp Awards Program is not open to Andrews Federal Credit Union employees and Board Members or their families. Incomplete applications will not be considered for eligibility. Applications falsified by a parent will be disqualified. Incomplete applications and applications created by AI software will not be considered for eligibility. Previous winners are not eligible for this year’s Summer Camp Awards program. Limit one Summer Camp Award per household. This award is reported to the Internal Revenue Service as income of the recipient. Consult your tax advisor about your specific tax situation.
